„ Vice-Regal. The Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe will be visiting Blenheim from October 30 to November 4, during which time they will attend the A. and P. Show. Air E. C. Hazlett left on a visit to Melbourne by the'Alaheno. The Rev. W. A. Sinclair, general secretary of the Alethodist Foreign Alissions, is at present visiting Dunedin. A cable message from London announces the death of Air Percy T. Berry, chairman of Henry Berry and Co. A cable message from London states that Sir Archibald and Lady Weigall are going to Australia, via New Zealand in January, and are visiting Lord and Lady Bledisloe. Air W. Hildreth, of Wellington, has come to Dunedin for the purpose of taking part in the Anderson’s Bay School jubilee. He is accompanied by Mrs Hildreth.

Aliss Oliver Kay, golf champion of Otago, left Dunedin on Saturday morning for Palmerston North. She will take part in the Manawatu championships, after which she will go to Wellington to compete in the New Zealand championships to be held on the Heretaunga links. Alessrs Dalgety and Co,, Ltd., report the receipt of cabled advice from their head office, London, announcing .the resig- - nation through ill-health of the Hon. Sir Arthur Lawley from their directorate. Sir Arthur’s resignation after his long service on the board has been accepted, with much regret. Lady Jellicoe intends to revisit the Dominion this summer, according to advice received in Auckland. She intends to stay in Auckland for about a month. It is expected that with a party of friend# she will arrive by the Rangitiki on December 24 After she leaves Auckland she will visit other parts of New Zealand. Air G. V. Wild, of Feilding, has been appointed lecturer in Nature study and agriculture at the Auckland Training College, owing to the resignation of Air R. A Falla, to join the Alawspn Antarctic expedition. After completing the first section of his_ B.A. at Otago University in 1916, Air Wild went to the war. He graduated in agriculture at Edinburgh University in 1922, and was appointed senior agricultural assistant at the Feilding High School in 1923.

After having been stationed for the past 10 years in Hamilton, Sergeantmajor A. Robertson, of the New Zealand Permanent Staff, has retired on superannuation, Sergeant-major Robertson enlisted in the Black Watch in 1890, and served in Gibraltar, Alalta, Egypt, Alauritius, India, and in South Africa during the Boer War. He joined the New Zealand Permanent Staff in 1913, and left with the Alain Body, being present at the landing of Gallipoli in 1915.
