PATTERN.
These apple trees have weather of their own. Let colour of sky be swept the colour of stone, Let day be yellow or blue, let avalanches Of powdery white be blown through naked branches, There is a pattern here unchanged by
season, A huddle of mood, a rough and constant reason. Though the years shift, these trees, at a slant together, Contain their own perverse and darkened weather. —Francis M. Frost, in an exchange.
