THE WHEAT MARKETS

POSITION IN BRITAIN. DUMPING BY RUSSIA. LONDON, October 3. Mr Parker Moloney (Australian Minister of Markets) this afternoon conferred with Dr Addison (Minister of Agriculture) regarding the world’s wheat position, particularly Russian dumping in Britain. Mr Moloney in a statement said that the supplies that had so far reached Britain in 1930 were heavy compared with the previous year. Ho will consult Dr Addison as soon as further figures are available, when a better idea of the real position will be possible.

Mr Moloney visited Tooley street and inspected the first of the season’s butter by the Crania from Australia. As a result he immediately sent a cable message to his department in Australia. Mr Moloney declared that his visit had revealed that the time was opportune for Australia to export frozen pork to Britain, as excellent results had been obtained with frozen pork, particularly bacchi, by New Zealand. Britain imported 10,000 tons of foreign bacon weekly, mostly Danish, showing the capacity of the British market to absorb Australian frozen pork.

CARGOES NOT TO BE UNLOADED. LONDON, October 4. Following a report that a ship was proceeding to Aberdeen from Russia loaded with .cereals, Aberdeen grain merchants decided that they would not handle the cargo, which will not be unloaded.

The French Government has issued a decree making Soviet dumping subject to licenses at the option of the Minister of Commerce and Agriculture.
