Civil employees of the British Government, including industrial workers, numbered 430,300 in 1929, as compared with 390,500 in 1913-14. Their wage bill has risen from £36,750,000 to £83,422,600 in the same period.
If one's hair is red there are about 90,000 hairs on the head; if black 102,000; if brown, 109,000. For one person with red hair there are nearly 40 with brown.
