Girls are to be tried by the principal Loudon messenger agency, as there is a growing shortage of boys owing, partly to the fact that more parents are allowing them to attend trade schools.
“ Children’s voices are not naturally beautiful,” said Mr Geoffrey Shaw, inspector of music in English training colleges, recently. “The poet who wrote about their silver voices probably did not know any children.”
