GATHERING OF NATIVES.
WESTERN MAORI BY-ELECTION. TAUMARUNUI, September 26.. The annual gathering of some 500 natives at Te Koura Pa, being held at present, has taken on a political aspect in view of the Western Maori by-elec-tion. They are mostly supporters of the Reform candidate, Mr Taite Te Tomo, and influential Natives preesnt include the Maori King, Te Rata, the Maori Princess, and Taite Te Tomo. Yesterday Mr J. G. Coates spent the day at the-pa, and addressed the Natives in the Reform interests.
