At the present time the Christchurch courts are slacker than, they have been for a long time past. One of the noticeable facts is that there has been a great falling off in all manner of crime. “In view of the unemployment existing, and, just recently, the darkening of the city, it might have been expected that there would have been an increase," said a court official to a representative of the Press. ’’ The number of cases coming forward has been reduced to a minimum, however.” The Invercargill tourist office has received advice that the Milford Track season will be opened on November 16 (states the Southland Daily News). The new building at the head of the Lake, which will replace Glade House, will be completed by that date, so that the old arrangements which were in vogue before Glade House was destroyed by fire, will be in vogue again.
