Pavlova has been working particularly well, and is expected to show improved form at the Waikato meeting. Warplane will be in the tightest classes before the present season ends. On the firm tracks of summer he will show some fine clips. M. B. Edwards has Royal Chenault in fine form, and the Peter Chenault three-year-old looks like developing into a very useful performer.

When at her best Regal Voyage is a brilliant pacer, and it will be surprising if she is not racing against the best before the season is over.

Danny Boy has been showing consistent form lately without winning, but with very little improvement he should win one of the looser-class saddle races. The Bon Homme mare Iwanta is capable of stepping well inside the loose mark she is on in the trotter races at Methven.

Desert Rey will only need to begin right in the Westward-ho Handicap ‘at Methven on Saturday to be prominent at the finish.

John Mauritius is among the regular workers at Addington, and the handsome trotter appears to be holding his form well.

C. S. Donald has a big team engaged at the Waikato meeting, and those who go to the post will carry heavy southern support.

The first time Rawhitiroa goes a level race he will be a hard horse to beat. He is a half-brother to Kohara, being by Rey de Oro from Bright Alice. Harvest Girl, who is engaged in both the trotting events at Kurow. is one of C.'S. Donald’s team. She is by Sonoma Harvester from Driftmire, and looks like being useful later on. The brilliant young trotter Todd Lonzia will have his first outing in the new season at Meth ven on Saturday. His presence at the meeting should give added interest to it.

Automatic showed speed at Geraldine, but did not carry it far enough to win. He should be a better horse next time out, which will probably be at Methven on Saturday. Supporters of Lydia have every reason to expect a profitable season from her. She is not so brilliant as some of her stablemates, but she has the speed to win good races.

The Nelson trainer, L. F. Berkett. has a promising young trotter named Wikitoria, who is by Triumph from Cobra. He will probably have his first race at the Greymouth meeting. If Harvest Girl is not taken to Kurow on Saturday Elite Bingen and M'Kinney Patch may be the favourites in the Waitaki Handicap, and Almont Cling and Great Scott in the Hydro-electric Handicap.

Although he is not the best of beginners Sunny Bob can pull out a fine. clip, and he will soon be ready to show his best form. He is a great stayer, and must hold a chance from 4.36 in the big race at the Waikato meeting. The Rey de Oro three-year-old looks like being a great stake-earner. Tenedos has not yet been raced over two miles, but the fact is not likely to weigh with backers if he goes to the post for the Methven Cup. The Nelson Bingen pacer won easily over 10 furlongs at the New. Brighton meeting, proving that he is top of his form.

The Triumph, who for ceveral seasons has been doing stud duty in the Auckland district, has been put into work again at Otahuhu. Prior to leaving America, the son of The Exponent—Mardella had a mile race record of 2.8 1-5, and he repeated that in a trial when he was trained by B. Jarden. The ex-New Zealander pacer Hinkler registered easily his best effort since going to Australia when he fan Harold Pronto to half a length in the Flying Handicap at Richmond (Victoria).
