First Day—Thursday, September 25. The Geraldine Racing Club’s meeting was opened in fine weather, and attracted an attendance rather above the average. The track .was a bit on the soft side, and slow

Coming to the stand hurdle Gala Day was showing the way to Pangolin, Gay Fashion, and Star Stranger 11, with the others, except Troilus, several lengths aWay. Pangolin took charge and led along the back from Gala Day, Gay Fashion, Star Stranger 11, and Troilus. Gay Fashion fell at the second last hurdle. Pangolin had drawn well clear coming round the top, and won easing up by six lengths from Troilus, who beat Haze by four lengths, with Star Stranger II a. head away, and Gala Day next. The field was in close order after going half, a mile, and they turned into the straight with Pronto Bingen, Colorado, Master Don, Doll Dance, and Royal Chenault showing the way. Pronto Bingen broke before leaving the straight and Colorado shortly-after entering the back stretch. Doll Dance,-Alaster Don, Great D’Oro, and Red Shiner led to the far turn, with Royal Chenault handy and Ayrmont Chimes moving up. Red Shiner and Great D’Oro led into the straight, where Ayrmont Chimes moved up fast, and, taking charge, won by a neck from Royal Chenault, who got out of a bad position at the home turn and finshed fast. Red Shiner was three lengths away and Great D’Oro and Pronto Bingen were next. Times: 3min 45 l-ssec, 3min 50 2-ssec, 3min 49 l-ssec.

Second Day—Saturday, September 27. The meeting was concluded in sunshine and showers. Following rain over-, night the track was heavier- than on the opening day. The attendance, with the assistance of the half-holiday in Timaru, proved to be one of the best ever seen on the course. The meeting could be considered a success apart from the starting, which was the subject of general adverse criticism. ' During the day £10,218 10s went through the totalisator as against £7926 last year. The total for the meeting amounted to £19,007, as against £18,201 last year, and proved the first meeting of the season to show an increase on the previous season. Pangolin and ■ Star Stranger 11, who was jumping badly, opened up a good lead. Going along the back Pangolin came away from Star Stranger 11, and Haze was making, up ground across the top. Pangolin finally won by eight lengths from Haze, who beat Star Stranger II by four lengths. Troilus was a bad fourth, and Orifiamb ran last nearly all the way. Time, 3min, 15 2-ssec. Assemble, The Dove, and Painkiller were smartest out from Some Toff, whilst Colonel Quex and Alias Tembaron were last to leave. Assemble and The Dove led Painkiller and Some Toff along the back. Assemble and The Dove opened a gap of four lengths from Painkiller coming round the top. Painkiller joined the leaders at the turn, and had them beaten when Some Toff came with a strong run, and won by a neck. Assemble was two lengths away, with The Dove and Kentish Lady next. Kahikatoa was the early leader from Whakaari and Sir Limond. Running down the back stretch Fitzquex ran to the front and was the first to turn for home from Kahikatoa. Whakaari, and Sir Limond. Tawhairoa, while schooling on the Hastings tracks this morning, fell at a fence, breaking his off foreleg above the knee, and had to be destroyed. RANDWICK TRAINING NOTES. SYDNEY, September 25, At Randwick tracks, First Sight went particularly well, doing seven furlongs in Imin 28sec. Paquito did seven in Imin 30sec.

Vaals, the winner of the Epsom Handicap in 1927, has been sold for stud duty at Wairea estate, at Hokianga. He is the first Valais horse to go to the Dominion.

SYDNEY, September 27. On the course proper at Randwick this morning Paquito and Balloon King were together at the end of a mile, covering the distance in Imin 44sec. In the Shade defeated Vali over a similar distance in Imin 43sec. First Sight beat Dunraven over seyen furlongs in Imin 29sec. Waterline and Axinius covered 11 furlongs in 2min 31sec, while Gesto and Killarney easily led Dominant at the finish of seven furlongs, which took Imin 30see. Papatu beat Cool Jester in a "fast sprint. Phar Lap easily accounted for eight furlongs run in Imin 464 sec. Gesture ran four in 50sec. Limerick traversed a mile in Imin 54sec on the bit on the tan, where Concentrate led Gay Crest over the same dis'tance, the time being Imin 43sec.
