A largely attended conference of local body representatives and others have resolved strongly to oppose any suggestion of closing down the construction works on the Gisborne-Napier railway. A deputation of five was appointed to collect all available evidence and proceed to Wellington to lay it before the Select Committee of Parliament appointed to inquire into the lines under construction-.
