The terms “ midwifery nurse ” and “ maternity nurse ” were defined at a meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board last, week by the medical superintendent (Dr M. M. Hockin). A midwifery nurse, said Dr Hockin. was a nurse who had the necessary qualifications and authority to conduct cases without the assistance of a doctor. A maternity nurse was qualified to act only with th 4 ai»i of a doctor.
