FUTURE OF ARAPUNI.

NO STATEMENT AT PRESENT. WELLINGTON, September 16. A statement with reference to the future of Arapuni was made by the Minister of Public Works (Mr W. B. Taverner) to-day. He took advantage of the opportunity of replying to certain statements appearing in an article in an Auckland newspaper. He reiterated his previous statement that nothing was being said or done in anticipation of Professor Hornell’s report. Statements indicating preparations for doing something at Arapuni are denied piecemeal. Mr Taverner emphasised that the general question will be left to Parliament to decide, as it is confidently anticipated that the report will be available before Parliament rises.
