The Home (the Australian “ journal of quality”) for January dresses itself in a gay mantle for the new year. It wears an attractive and bright cover design, by Hera Roberts. Its offering is a varied one m interests. Its quality reaches the same excellent standard as in previous issues. Admirably-prodneed photographs of social women and actresses, and wellwritten special articles for women ami men, are a feature of this month's issue. For those whose interests lie in calisthenics. the well illustrated little article. “As You Were,” by Countess Couden-hove-Kalergi. will meet with their approval. For those whose inclinations are toward architecture. “The Eyes of the House,” by J. R. Berry, will make its appeal. The amateur gardener will find his tastes catered for in an illustrated article entitled “Orchids are Out,” and the astronomer in Dickinson Alonteath's extraordinary photographs

“ Camera Cataclysms.” The first of a series of illustrated articles under the heading of “ Australian Pioneer Families,” from the pen of Charles 11. Bertie, makes its bow with the Alacarthurs, an historic Australian family, the founder of which. John Alacarthur, was, in 1789. appointed lieutenant of the New South Wales Corps. Writers of discrimination have contributed to the excellent potpourri headed “Just Before We Begin,” and the continuation of “ An Australian Colander ” enlightens as to anniversaries of interesting events.
