A party of 27 Tasmanian farmers will shortly make a tour of New Zealand, arriving at the Bluff on October 13, and leaving from Auckland on November 1. Mr C. L. Gillies, of the Department of Agriculture, Tasmania, and formerly of the staff of the Timaru Boys’ High School, is undertaking the arrangements in connection with the visit, and is receiving every assistance from the Railways Department. the Department of Agriculture and the Farmers’ Union. Air Gillies, who is familiar with conditions, both in Tasmania and New Zealand, will pilot the narty throughout the Dominion. Another commerce train has been organised in Auckland, centring on this occasion on the Auckland Peninsula, according to a letter from the Auckland Chamber of Commerce to the Wellington Alanufacturers’ Association, which states that there are one or two vacancies in the party if early application is made. The expenses of the tour would be £l3 15s, to cover rail fare, accommodation on the night when the party was absent from the train at Kaitain, and in addition there would be a cost of about £2 for meals and incidentals apart from the train.
