ASHBURTON TROTS. Saturday, April 20. The autumn meeting of the Ashburton Trotting Club was held in fine but dull weather and before a large attendance. The track was in good order. There was some' very interesting sport, but the fields were too big for ideal racin, while several mishaps occurred. The first of these was in the Allenton Handicap, in which Bonora, Rustle, and Era . Reta lost their drivers. In the Durbar Handicap Kotuku Jack broke and fell at the entrance to the straight, bringing Shadowland down. In the Harvest Handicap Golden Author fell in the straight. Loiterer, Rollo, Auto Minto, Delightful' and Denver’s Doll falling over him. Several of the drivers were severely shaken and bruised, while Golden Author gave the impression that he had been injured. Linkman gave further evidence of improvement by winning the Durbar Handicap very decisively. Glenlake was smartest out with Kelp and Becky de Oro handy. Kate Logan moved up fast and took the lead after going two furlongs, followed by Glenlake, Kelp, Purser, and Lady Oran. Kereta led for a furlong, when Bon Elect took charge and led past the stand, with Kereta, Accumulator, Aileen Wood, and Oyal/handy. There was no change at the mile post, where Dillon S. headed the others, followed by St. Petrox. Two furlongs further on Kereta headed Bon Elect. Half a mile from home Oval joined Kereta in the lead, and they were followed to the straight by Accumulator.
