Fat sheep have been leaving the Poverty Bay coastal districts jn large numbers this season, and as a result of this the freezing works at Tokomaru Bay have been left with little to do recently (says a North Island exchange). So little stock has been received at the works lately that it was found advisable to close the works for a period. Much of the stock has been sent to Hawke’s Bay and to the South Island, and it is stated that Maori settlers have been among those who have participated in the shipment and droving to outside districts, hardly any of the Maori stock finding its way to the Tokomaru Bay works this season.
