Satisfaction at the excellence of the work carried out in 'the primary schools of Hawke’s Bay by the educational officer of the Hawke’s Bay Swimming Centre in the matte? of teaching the children to swim was expressed by members of the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, when they were informed that during the 1927-28 season a total of 2066 swimming certificates were issued to the children, .928 of that number being learners’ certificates (says a North Island exchange). The board decided that the department be asked to reinstate swimming and life-saving as a subject of instruction for capitation purposes for those schools where facilities were available.
