We are in receipt of ihe New Zealand -Railways Magazine for February, which, like all preceding numbers, is an interesting publication. Of special worth this month is a large map showing progressive publicity on the New Zealand Railways. One obtains a very comprehensive idea of the railway system of the South Island from a mere glance at it.

All About Books is a new journal, published in Melbourne, for Australian and New Zealand readers. Ite aim is to give recommendations of the best new books in such a way as to allow a reader to decide quickly if a volume is the kind to give him the pleasure and recreation or the information he desires. In days when people have no time to search through papers for long, critical reviews, it aims at “ keeping them advised of the best new books '"and what leading reviewers think of them, at giving interesting information about books and authors, at telling of such books as are attracting world-wide attention, and at bringing under one’s notice older good books which may have been overlooked.” The first number, which we select as an example, contains a short story, several literary articles, book reviews of a wide and varied nature, and short, pithy paragraphs revealing in a nutshell this and that about books, book societies, and authors.

We have received a copy of the new enlarged edition of the Sugar Manual, just published, and now ready for issue. The Sugar Manual contains a concise epitome of all the details, facts,, and statistics relating to the production and marketing of sugar, with complete,. up-to-date particulars of sugar companies, their capitalisation, dividends, extracts of balance sheets, and a list of directors, officials, and Registered offices.
