A striking indication of the productivity of the hill lands in the Thames district is to be found in Mr H. Scotts farm at Matatoki (reports the New Zealand Herald). The returns from this farm of 48 acres, mostly hill country, during the past three seasons, are as follow:— 1925-26. 8021|lb butter-fat, or 1671 b an acre; 1926-27, 9088Mb,' or 189 l-31b an acre; 1927-28, 9273t1b, or 1931 b an acre. The farm has been top-dressed at the rate of from 24cwt to 3cwt an acre twice a year, and during the past two years has carried 30 cows, one bull and two horses all the year round-.
