Rapid progress has been made "with the workshops programme of the New Zealand railways, and the new shops at Petone are to be opened in January next (says an exchange). The wagon and repair works at Otahuhu are nearing completion and will be ready for operation in three or four months. In repairs and manufacturing costs the Railways Department expects to save £115,000 annually when the work is apportioned in the four' centres.
