New telephone connections for private houses are still practically unprocurable in Christchurch, and it is not anticipated that the automatic installation will be completed this side of June of next year (reports the Lyttelton Times). Those who are willing to subscribe »to a two-party service, however, will be provided with telephones at short notice. The department is keeping a small supply on hand for busines houses, which pay a higher rental than do private subscribers.
