ALLEGED NEGLIGENCE.

CLAIM AGAINST DENTIST FAILS. HAMILTON, November 19. H. W. Frost, Ltd., dentists, to-day successfully defended a suit for £l2l brought by a client, Mrs Janet Lymburn, on the ground' of alleged negligence in an operation. Frost’s employee, J. C. Kirkland, had cut loose flesh from the gum preparatory to fitting a new denture, and had punctured two small arteries. A surgeon was called in to stop the flow of blood, and he inserted a stitch. The gum had adhered to the cheek, and the patient had a long period without teeth. Then a second operation for adhesion was performed. For the defence Mr Kirkland stated to-day that he had advised the immediate insertion of a denture to prevent 'adhesion. Two prominent Auckland dentists supported the defendant’s claim that this procedure was correct. The Magistrate, Mr Wyvern Wilson, said that he found no proof of negligence in the nature of the operation, the manner of performance, or the after treatment. Judgment was entered for the defendants with costs.
