The last of the Lincolnshire falconers, Thomas Dewire, was recently found drowned in a pond at Farlesthorpe, with his feet tied together. Dewire, who was 78, was for many years falconer to Captain Lindsey, at Well Vale near Alford. He was an expert at this craft, and until shortly before his death was frequently to be seen with falcons perched on his shoulders Mr Dewire possessed a remarkable knowledge of the history' of falconry, and once represented the sport in the Lord Mayor’s Show.. Discontinuance of his employment had left him very depressed.
