HOSPITAL RESIGNATION.
WOMAN SUPERINTENDENT AT WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, August 31. Miss L. W. I. Stott, woman superintendent of the Wellington Hospital, has resigned owing to ill-health after 14 years’ service. Her work at the Wellington Hospital has won for her the warm approbation of the board. Mr F. Castle said that Miss Stott had been on sick leave during the past nine months. Miss Stott was appointed assistant lady superintendent in 1914, and was promoted to be lady superintendent in 1917. The resignation was accepted with regret.
An Okoia farmer recently ran a wild pig to earth on his property (relates the Wanganui Chronicle). There appears to be no reason to account for the animal’s presence so far from his usual haunts, except that he may have escaped from a neighbouring dairy farm when quite young, and survived in’ solitude under cover of scrub and gorse. He was a wild customer, and six dogs chased him through hilly country for two hours before he was finally bailed up. He made no hesitation about charging, and even when safe in a small enclosure fie will not tolerate interference.
