VISIT TO MOUNT COOK.
A PARLIAMENTARY PARTY. WELLINGTON, August 31. A parliamentary party arranged by Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P. for Temuka, is leaving by the Wahine to-night en route to Mount Cook. The party consists of Mr L. T. Fleming, Dlrs and Miss Fleming. Mr W. 11. M’lntyre, Mr F. Mander, Sir John Luke, Lady .Luke, and Mr Luke. Mi H. G. Dickie, . M.P., Mr T. Forsyth, M.P., Mr W. H. Field, M.P., Mrs Field, and Mr Field, Mr J. Linklater M. Mrs and Miss Linklater, Mr H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., and Mrs Kyle, Mr E A. Ransom, M.P., and Mrs Ransom, M’ J. R. Hamilton, M.P., Mrs and Miss J amilton. Mr W. Jones, M.P., and Mrs Jones, Miss Jackson, Mr and Mrs Malcolm Ross, and Mr R. P. M’Cracken Wellington), representative of the Mount Cook Motor Company. The members of the party will leave the southern express at Temuka, where they will be entertained by the Mayor and councillors at morning tea. They will then embark in cars for the Hermitage. At Tekapo, on the shores of the beautiful lake, they will be entertained by Mr Burnett at luncheon, after which the journey will be resumed to the Hermitage, via Lakq Pukaki. It is expected that the- party will reach its destination at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday.. Sunday will be spent in various excursions in the Hooker and Tasman Valleys and the- vicinity of the Hermitage, and the party will reach Wellington again on Tuesday morning. A telegram received from the Hermitage this morning states that the weather is glorious. There has been an Sinch fall of snow, and the Southern Alps are seen at their best in gorgeous sunshine. The barometer is rising, and conditions promise to be ideal for the visit.
