RETURNED SOLDIERS.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The fortnigthly meeting of the executive of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Tuesday evening, Mr A. M‘Hutchon (vice-president) occupying the chair. Seven new members were elected, and one outward transfer was approved. The deaths of three ex-service men were reported, the committee passing a vote of sympathy with their relatives. Mr J. P. Skinner reported that members interested in the formation of a miniature rifle club had held several, practice “ shoots,” and that interest in the project was growing. A warm tribute was paid to Messrs Silvius and Bruce for their assistance in this connection. The Social Committee reported that arrangements were being made for the purchase of toys for the annual Christmas children’s treat and that an adequate supply for the function this year was assured. It was decided that an endeavour be made to entertain the Tasman .flyers in a suitable manner on their arrival in Dunedin, and that preliminary inquiries be made with a view to entertaining Commander Byrd upon his arrival here. The administration of Imperial pensions concerning ex-service men in New Zealand was discussed, and the secretary’s action in expressing dissatisfaction to the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association headquarters with regard to the treatment of men suffering a recurrence of their war troubles was approved.
