A longing to go to sea was given as the motive which led a lad aged 14— one of a family of 12—to take a launch which disappeared from its moorings at New Brighton, Christchurch. He was committed to the care of the Child Welfare Officer. The magistrate (Mr E. D. Mosley) stated that an_endeavour would be made to get the boy. a job on a farm, and later, if he still bad a desire for the sea, to get him placed On a ship.
