The following is a story told by the Rev. Jasper Calder in a slack moment at the Alagistrate’s Court, Auckland (states the Sun). “What is a man to do in the case of stray dogs? If he takes one in and gives it a feed he is fined for keeping an unregistered dog. If he registers it he stands the chance of being arrested for theft, and if he kicks it from his door the S.P.C.A.. is after him for cruelty. Personally, if. the worst came to the worst, I should take in the dog and part out my 10s the next day.” “ I must send you a few of the cats that haunt tiles round my place.” said a member of the missioner’s audience. “ Ah, now, cats—cats are different,” said Mr Calder hastily.
