OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Otago Hospital board was held on Thursday evening, the chairman (Air W. E. S. Knight) presiding. There were also present Alessrs D, Larnach, J. W. Scurr, J. Dove, D. Al’Lennan, A. Quelch, W. B. Alorgan, Dr Newlands, Airs Boss, and Aliss Runciman. CORRESPONDENCE. A letter was received from the secretary of the Drainage Board advisin, that the brick drain which had been encountered during the excavation for the foundations of the new laundry at Caversham was a. natural watercourse, covered in, which took water from an open ditch in the Caversham School ground. The writer pointed out that this would have to be diverted before the laundry could be built, and that this would require to be done at the expense of the Hospital Board, which had no right to stop or obstruct in any way ■an existing drain passing through its ground.—ln regard to this letter the architects (Alessrs . Alason and Wales)’ reported the' cost of diverting the drain would be about £l3O. —-Received. An invitation from the South Otago Hospital Board to attend the opening of the new maternity ward at the Kaitan-gat-a Hospital on September 1 was received.—lt was decided that the secretary reply advising that any member of the Otago Board, able to attend would do SO. . .. A letter was received from Air J. Gilchrist enclosing a copy of the resolution which , was carried at the public meeting held in connection with the readmittance of Elliott Standfield to the Benevolent Home, and which urged the board to reconsider its previous - decision.—Received. -COMAIITTEE REPORTS. The reports of the Benevolent, Sanatorium, Hospital, and Finance Committees were adopted without discussion.
