The usual signification of assent in the courts to tell the truth and nothing but the truth on the part of witnesses is a whispered “ I do.” An old lady of 75, however, grew rather indignant when she was being sworn in at the Wellington Magistrate’s Court the other day (says the Post). “What would I come here to tell a lie for?” she exclaimed, as she handed.back the Bible to the clerk.
