BOROUGH OF HOKITIKA.
DIAMOND JUBILEE CLEBRATED. HOKITIKA, August 25. The Hokitika Borough Council held a special meeting last evenimr to mark the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the constitution of the municipality under the Municipal Corporations Act. Mr G. A. Perry (Mayor) presided, and all the councillors and a number of ex-council-lors were present, including Mr W. A. Thompson, who was an active member of the council in the early eighties. Mr T. El Y. Seddon, MJ?., was present by invitation, and an apology was received from Mr H. L. Michel, M.L.C. (exMayor) . Several interesting speeches made reference to the past, the setting up of municipal government, and the work of the early pioneers.
