During the course of the World War England produced 4,921,000 soldiers, or 80 per cent, of the Empire’s forces engaged; Scotland supplied 11 per cent., Wales 5 per cent. Eighty-two per cent, of all the Empire’s casualties were Englishmen. Twenty, bankruptcies, 17 of which were in the North Island, were notified in the latest issue of the New Zealand Gazette.
