PROMOTER CONVICTED AND FINED.
TIMARU, July 30. At the Police Court, before justices of the peace, Raymond Irvine was charged with conducting a game of chance, to wit a crossword competition, contrary to section 41 of “The Gaming Act, 1908.” The defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 5s and. costs. On a second charge he was convicted.
