HONEYMOON INN.

PASSING OF ANCIENT HOSTELRY. SYDNEY, April 19. There have been several paragraphs in die newspapers about the passing, before very long, of what is claimed to be the oldest and most romantic hostelry jn Australia. One of the landmarks of the historic Richmond district in New South Wales, it was licensed in 1819 as the Black Horse Hotel, but was known more popularity as “ Honeymoon Inn.” The hostess of other days used to tell with pride of how she made more than 300 couples happy under her roof. That was. in the days of the old-fashioned weddings, when couples used to drive up to the inn in a well-appointed four-in-hand, with postilions bedecked with 'ribbons. The dear old lay, who, in black silk gown and white lace cap, mothered so many on the first stage of their matrimonial journey, has long gone to her rest. Now the doors of the old inn are to bo closed, but memory of it is not to be completely effaced, for the doors of the bridal room are to be incorporated in the new building that is to take its place. All’ old places in Sydney are gradually being swept away in the great surge of time.
