VALUELESS CHEQUES.
OFFENDER SENT TO PRISON. WELLINGTON, May 9. James Bruce, M ill Aliller, a clerk, aged 37, pleaded guilty before Mr & E. Page, S.M., to six charges of obtaining money,, totalling £36, by means of values less cheques issued to hotel licensees. Five of the offences related to Wellington and one to Auckland. The accused was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment In Christchurch last Saturday for similar offences.
Mr Page sentenced Miller to six months’ imprisonment on the first charge, the sentence to be rcconcurrent with the present term. On the others the accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within twelve months
