ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of parishioners of All Saint's Church was held on Thursday evening. The Rev. Dean Fitchett presided over a large attendance. Hie Dean, in his opening remarks, stated that the parish was in a verv good position to receive the new minister, tile Rev. W. Hardy Johnson. The treasurer had a few pounds in the bank, and the parish had endowments for the Sunday school, charity, and a scholarship amounting to £5OO. This relieved the vestry fund of considerable expenditure. The new minister would, therefore, begin under very good conditions. Only good accounts had been received of Mr Johnson. He would leave early in June, and would be expected at the end of July. He would receive a hearty welcome from the loyal and amiable people of the parish. “ Our faces are all turned towards the rising sun,” he said. “My interest in the parish, is as great as yours. When Mr Johnson arrives everything will bo stimulated, feince the loss of Sister Elizabeth and the curate, pastoral work has been slack. But everything will improve, and the societies and agencies of the parish will be quickened.’’ Money would have to be spent on the house, he added, but no difficulties would be experienced. The parishioners would be glad to get such a good man as Mr Johnson. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: — Churchwardens, Messrs G. R. Ritchie and C. Stanley Smith; vestrymen Sir James Allen, Messrs C. Grater, C H Hayward, F. W. Mitchell, F. Peake T W. Robinson, A. L. Swan, F. Whinan’ J. E. Wingfield, George Wilson, A. War’ man, and Dr Russell Ritchie; treasurer Mr G. D. Wright; secretary to the vestry, Mr W. j. Strong; auditor Mr J. A. Hopcraft. Votes of thanks were accorded the various parish organisations for their services during the year, and appreciation of the services of the Rev. Archdeacon Whitehead was also expressed.
