RURAL LAND IN BOROUGHS.
OTAKI, May 9. Questions appertaining to the rating system of the borough of Otaki, to the advisability of abolishing the borough, and to the form of government that could be substituted are under consideration by the commission which was recently set up to inquire into and report on the matters. Mr T. Brooks, valuer-general, gave an historical resume of the developments in the status of Otaki in recent years. Dr Shors gave an outline of the failure of the sewerage scheme. The commission is likely to last for 10 or 12 days.
