NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Council financial arrangements submitted by the Australian Board in connection with the tours gave rise to considerable discussion. It was pointed out that from the profits £5OO would be set aside against any possible loss in New Zealand or Australia. It was decided to refer the Australian body’s suggestion to a sub-committee for a report. Further advice from the Australian Board was that the New Zealand League would in future be recognised as the governing body in New Zealand. It was realised that there should be only one governing body in the Dominion and one in Australia. It was also reported that a scheme for an exchange of opinion on the laws of the game among the English, Australian, and New Zealand Referees’ Associations under consideration, and that some definite action would be taken in the near future. SATURDAY’S MATCHES. CITY AND ATHLETIC WIN. The weather was excellent on Saturday afternoon, and the League matches were played under very pleasant conditions. A fairly strong breeze was in evidence, but it was ' not sufficient to upset the calculations of the players to any material extent. City bad an easy win against Kaikorai, which faded out oadly in the second spell, and Athletic secured its first win by beating Pacific.
