FALSE PRETENCES.
MARRIED WOMAN’S OFFENCES. ♦ WELLINGTON, May 1. Daphne Jean Stanton, aged 20, a married woman, whose husband-was stated by her to be in Sydney, was sentenced to 12 months’ detention in the Borstal Institute to-day for obtaining two frocks, a skunk stole, a handbag, a bead necklace, a brooch, and hat, of the value of £43 13s, from Abrahams, Ltd., by representing herself as the wife of a wellknown person in.. Kilbirnie, and saying that she would pay by cheque. She was admitted to probation for two years in January, on four charges of false pretences.
