A young Katikati (Auckland) farmer named Jeffrey Sharp had a narrow escape from death on a recent aft-'nmon He was assisting his uncle in boring operations for water near a milking shed, and he placed his hands on a galvanised pipe which had come into contact with the transmission wires from th» electric plant. The shock rendered him unconscious for a considerable time, and it was thought he was dead. Medical aid arrived later, and subsequently he recovered sufficiently to be pronounced out of danger. His hands were badly burnt.
