D.—Under the provisions of the Land Drainage Bill you can apply to your neighbours to have the ditch cleaned out. You should approach your neighbours and see if they will co-operato with you in cleaning out the ditch. “ Leasehold ” asks: “ Will you kindly advise me as to the whole expenses, commission! transfer, stamp duty, etc., attached to the selling of a grazing property valued at £11,000?” The scale rate ol commission on the sale would be £195, payable by the vendor. The costs of transfer and stamp dutv would be about £l5O. payable by the purchaser. “ Wayback ” asks : “Isa Crown tenant holding a small grazing run exempt from income tax if he has no other source of Income than that derived from his run?” No. All profits or gains from the use or occupation of any Crown land or other land administered by a land board, and held as a small grazing run or for pastoral purposes, are Included in the term, assessable income. “Sport” asks: “ (1) A man has a conviction against him last year for shooting ducks without a license. This year he applies for a license, and the society will not grant him one. Is it within the society’s power to withhold that license?
(2) Being the holder of property alongside the river, and not a shootlst, can I give him a permit to shoot on my ground instead of shooting there myself? ” (1) Yes. Is it legal with one? (3) In the event of the above will being legal what is the procedure to have the deceased’s estate administered? (4) What percentage does the Government claim as death duties? (5) How is the death duty assessed? Is it collected on money only, or also on property?" (1) Yes (2) Every will should make an appointment of a trustee. If no trustee is appointed, and the will is otherwise valid, the court will appoint an administrator to administer the estate. (3) Apply to the court to appoint an administrator. (4) Death duties are assessed on a graduated scale according to the value of the estate. (5) On all the property of the deceased.
