Great interest was taken in the wedding which united two pioneer families of Southland, and was solemnised at the Cathedral, Nelson, by the Rev. Dean Askew, when Eleanor Catherine, only daughter of Mr and Mrs William Westbrooke Squires, of Nelson, was wedded to Thomas Menzies Watson, of Ohio, Southland, eldest son of Mr and Mrs John Langham M’Gillivery Watson, of Invercargill.
