“ Canterburj’ roads, and even those in the whole district from Kaikoura to Dunedin, have improved infinitely since the Main Highways Board began its work,” said the president of the Canterbury Automobile Association (Mr B. Falck), in speaking upon the North Canterbury roading report the other afternoon (reports the Lyttelton Times). “ Improvement would be carried out more expeditiously if the board did not have to wait until requests came forward from the local bodies.”
A Christchurch tennis player has invented a new type of racquet handle, which is considered by some of the leading players to be an improvement on the type now in general use. It is claimed by the inventor that his make of handle completely eliminates the necessity for affixing any type of pull-over grip, tape, or resin, and is complete as it stands. The invention has been accepted by the British Patents Office, and applications for letters patent have been filed in France, Canada, the United States, India, and Australia.
