OTAGO A. AND P. SOCIETY.

THE WINTER SHOW. Entries for the forthcoming Winter Show are coming in freely, and the secretary expects that the show this year will be quite up to the standard of former years. There has been such a heavy demand for schedules that all applications now received are requested to return them to the office after their entries have been made, so that no one will be disappointed. Many exhibitors do not. understand the reason why it has been decided to open the show on a Saturday. The King’s Birthday will be celebrated this year on a Monday, which will be observed as a close holiday. Not only -would there be great difficulty and expense if the society attempted to obtain exhibits on that day, and make arrangements for judging and opening the show on the following day, but they would not receive the extra revenue they would obtain from the large attendance of the public on a holiday. The committee expects to receive good entries in the stock section this year, and is making special arrangements for the attendance on stock on Sunday. A large number of applications for space have been received, and the committee hopes to make its first allocation to-day, when it is fully expected that half of the applications received will be dealt with. It is practically impossible to allot definitely all the space until it is ascertained what space is required for the proper display of exhibits entered for competition.
