During a conversation with a prominent. Wanganui business man the other morning, a Hawera Star reporter # was informed that - there were at present 57 empty shops in the river city. Unemployment was rife, and the building trade was at a standstill; in fact, said the speaker, building operations at present were the lowest for 20 years.
