An amusing slip was made the ether evening by the Rev. John Patterson, during an address in the Presbyterian Hall at Taihape (states the Feilding Star). “It is a strang thing how people who sneer at the church and never think of supporting it, come to us when they want to get married, or have their children christened, or be buried.” A laugh followed the last statement, but Mr Patterson is an experience platform speaker; and was » not embarrassed by the little slip.
