An Invercargill motorist had a very pleasant experience last week when attending a function hot very far from town (says the Southland Times). He possesses a common make of oar, which he parked with several others of a similar make on arrival at his destination. After the evening was over he climbed into his car and drove home, when he was astounded to find a keg in the back of his vehicle. His delight was on a par with his deep sympathy for the person who had made a mistake in stowing away the container of happy feelings. While in England. Mr C. P. Stannard, a Nelson builder, who has returned from a trip to Europe, made a’ point of inspecting the undermining work now going on at St. Paul’s Cathedral. He was shown a bill of quantities made out by Sir Christopher Wren, about 1650, in connection with the letting in of iron bars to certain windows. Eight days’ work for two stonemasons was provided, at a cost of £2 2s 6d a day for each workman.
