When the jury for a civil action case was being empanelled in the Supreme Court at Mastertoil the other morning, the challenges by counsel on both sides were so numerous that the whole of the jurymen summoned were practically exhausted (states the Wairarapa Daily Times). When the last name on the jury list was called, still one more juryman was . required. A stock, auctioneer, who had applied for exemption on the ground that he was required to conduct a stock sale in the afternoon, and who had been told by his Honor to stand aside temporarily, was then informed by Mr Justice Ostler that his services would be required on the jury. He was granted time to arrange for.‘another auctioneer to act as a substitute' fot him at the stock sale.
