There was .an extraordinary occurrence at the Blenheim County Council the other afternoon (reports the Marlborough Express) Tcndeis for a roading contract were being dealt with, and the County engineer was entrusted with the task of opening, the sealed envelopes and reading out the prices.- The five tenders had not been sorted over, as they were read immediately the envelopes were opened in the presence of members, .yet each successive tender, was lower- than ; its predecessor, -the last tender opened being the lowest’ and successful one.
