EMISSARY OF TRADE.

MR H. E. PRATTEN ARRIVES.

AU.CKLAND, March 12. “ I have come over here 'at the desire of both Governments to see whether the trade position cannot be improved,” said Air H. E. Pratteu, Australian Alinister of Trade and Customs who arrived by the Niagara this morning. “ I feel sure that in both dominions there is a. feeling that there should be a natural friendship between the Commonwealth and New Zealand,” Air Pratten continued, “ and although both Govern- - ments undoubtedly, have their trade problems there will, I am sure, be mutual recognition of each other’s difficulties. But,” he added, “ there is no reason why the trade position should not be improved.”

“Would you care to say anything concerning the butter trade between the two countries? ” Air Pratten was asked. “ No, I am not going to talk about it, and I am not going to «nv a word about flour or wheat either.” '• replied.
